Research

Dr Vertullo currently undertakes research in improving outcomes of both knee replacement and knee reconstructions, as an Professor at both Griffith University and an Associate Professor at Bond University.  He is also Founder and Director of Knee Research Australia, a not for profit foundation. 

Dr Vertullo’s current research focuses on four main areas:

1. Improving patient outcomes in Knee Preservation including:

• Biologic Knee Replacement & Adult Stem Cell Based Chondral Resurfacing

• Improving Osteotomy Outcomes via New Techniques

• Prevention of Infection in Anterior Cruciate Reconstruction

• Improving Meniscal Repair outcomes

2. Improving TKR & UKR outcomes through better prosthesis including:

• Influence of Surgeon Preference on Outcomes

• Optimum Prosthesis Combinations

• Improving knee replacement prosthesis design

• Better total knee cementation techniques
